FINDING CONTROL IN UNCONTROLABLE SITUATIONS
Spinning out of control is a phrase often used to describe the world today. No control. Spinning out of hands. Yet textiles often have comforting properties and the slow methods of producing thread can be used to find balance. Becoming one with the work.
It is a tradition to knit a piece of clothing or a blanked to welcome a new born baby into the family. I took leftover yarn my mother had used to knit. Combing them apart to spin new threads gave me time to contemplate and explore the material I had in my hands. Why so much pink?
